Make acknowledging your friends and family extra special by creating your own dynamic pop up cards. Using card stock, scissors and craft store embellishments you will leave with 3 completed cards: a Birthday, Thank you & Mothers Day and the skill to recreate them at home. In this workshop you will get to see this machine up close in order to decide if you need/want one and what kinds of things the 2 of you can do! Using DeColorant (TM), freezer paper and assorted art tools we will explore putting color into and taking color out of of cotton and hand dyed fabrics. This is a wonderful method of creating custom fabrics or embellishing ones you may already have in your stash. Quilters will love this class and fabric enthusiasts will have a ball. Your will leave being acquainted with a new medium and with Ideas on what to do with your new fabric creations.

Quilting and the Sewing Machine

Many everyday folks think that authentic quilting skills must be accomplished by hand. UNTRUE! As Urban folk we are accustomed to life moving faster. Using a sewing machine to be creative can be as meditative as hand sewing and a faster road to a completed project. This lecture and demonstration will open up the world sewing machines and many of the functions they can perform in creating a quilt. Newcomers to quilting will get an overview of what it takes to make a quilt and what rolls modern technology can play. Who will enjoy this class:
-Those who have a sewing machine and would like to put it to use.
-Those new to quilting.
-Folks wanting to purchase a new sewing machine.
Hands-on workshops in Machine quilting (piecing & applique', and quilting) will be offered in April. Laura is also available for private and group consultations and lessons.
